Mitchell St Residence
The juxtaposition of modern elements and period details echoes throughout this project, undertaken for a developer, in Melbourne’s Northcote. It pays homage to the once working-class area that has developed into a community rich with culture, eclectic art, music, fashion and an enviable foodie scene.
Alter Space wanted to harness the edgy youthfulness of the suburb and inject this into the design. With a limited budget and by utilising a sleek selection of materials and finishes, we focused on a bold, monochromatic palette with geometric patterns to achieve a timeless home .
Each area was developed to have a distinct feel through the use of different combinations of contrast, scale and pattern. The monochromatic palette, both dramatic and elegant, creates a harmonious transition between each room and contrasts beautifully with the amount of light that pours throughout the entire home.
